Bear Back (Not horses)

Bear Back (Not horses)

Herb August 29, 2020

Herb’s blog, Herbdate 22121-692:

I purchased a couple of bearproof trashcans last year from Ace. We have a large (400 pound, maybe) male black bear and at times we have had a sow and two cubs, that roam the neighborhood once in a while. They’ve done everything from throwing it into the neighbor’s driveway to tipping it upside-down and banging it. The cans work and don’t have any damage other than cosmetic. I’m sorry I don’t have a video of the bears themselves but I am including a video of what I found the other morning.

Not the actual bear

  1. That’s creepy that you have to “worry” about bears. I was told where I’m going for college, they’ll be bears there. I’m soooo scared!

    1. Yeah. They’re nice to see at a distance but they are trouble up close. Although opossums and racoons are problems enough.

  2. I don’t have bears where I’m at but they’re supposed to be coming south. Is having them as easy as if you k=leave them alone they’ll leave you alone??

Stay well and laugh when you can

    1. Most of the time. The ones that get into people’s trash and develop a taste for it and lose their fear of humans are the bad ones. My experience is yes, they will leave you alone, especially if they don’t feel trapped.

  3. They sounds like fun yet again. The lines in the background make it odd to read the blog

    1. We keep him indoors at night. He stays in my daughter’s room. Sometimes he will start
barking in the middle of the night and she will smell bear but that hasn’t happened too often.
