Bear Back (Not horses)

Herb’s blog, Herbdate 22121-692:

I purchased a couple of bearproof trashcans last year from Ace. We have a large (400 pound, maybe) male black bear and at times we have had a sow and two cubs, that roam the neighborhood once in a while. They’ve done everything from throwing it into the neighbor’s driveway to tipping it upside-down and banging it. The cans work and don’t have any damage other than cosmetic. I’m sorry I don’t have a video of the bears themselves but I am including a video of what I found the other morning.

Not the actual bear

  1. That’s creepy that you have to “worry” about bears. I was told where I’m going for college, they’ll be bears there. I’m soooo scared!

    • Most of the time. The ones that get into people’s trash and develop a taste for it and lose their fear of humans are the bad ones. My experience is yes, they will leave you alone, especially if they don’t feel trapped.

    • We keep him indoors at night. He stays in my daughter’s room. Sometimes he will start
barking in the middle of the night and she will smell bear but that hasn’t happened too often.
