Herb’s Original Bucket List – Tag-Me Tuesday

Herb’s blog, Herbdate 22110-681:

On last Tag Me Tuesday – Lisa Mae’s Questions, one question was, “Do you have a bucket list? Which I answered (Quite cleverly, I thought), “Um, well, the only thing on my bucket list at the moment is, “Make a bucket list.” Because really, I just didn’t want to. Then I thought, well, maybe someone is really interested and I should do it for posterity’s sake. After some painstaking soul-searching, I decided to acquiesce and do this. So, without further ado I present to you my bucket list.

Herb’s Bucket List
(I hope this helps someone)

Old Oaken Bucket
Feed bucket
Bucket of bolts
Bucket of laundry soap
Bucket of wood blocks
Slop bucket
Mop bucket
Bucket my Grandma (who never had an indoor bathroom. My Grandpa told me that city people were disgusting because they went to the bathroom in their house.) kept in the corner for those Wisconsin winter nights when it was forty degrees below zero Fahrenheit [which, oddly enough, works out to forty degrees below zero Celsius. Ha! Go figure. The formula is (F – 32) / 1.8 = C] and you didn’t want to walk the icy one hundred yards (That’s 91.44 meters for certain of you and you know who you are) to the outhouse. It had to be that far from the house not only for sanitary purposes but when the Wisconsin summer comes around and it’s ninety-five degrees (That’s thirty-five degrees Celsius) out in the shade and the humidity is around 90% you don’t want that thing too close to the house.
Coal bucket
Slime bucket
5-gallon bucket
Data bucket
Ice bucket
Galvanized steel bucket
Milk bucket
Water bucket
Bucket loader bucket
Soup bucket

Edit/Add 05/31/2022 AKA Herb Date 22760:
It was pointed out several times that I was remiss in not mentioning the Ice Cream Bucket.

Now, those are all the types of buckets I can think of. I don’t know what the big deal is, though. I mean, I’m sure I missed many different types of buckets but so what. Why does anyone really need a list like this anyway? I really did my best and wracked my brain and I hope this helps someone.

  1. I need a new bucked for when I clean out the wood-burning stove. The plastic one has never been the same since I put hot ash in it.

  2. Wow. That whole section on outhouses made me value our plumbing even more than I ever have. Thank you for giving me an overwhelming sense of gratitude today!

  3. I haven’t begun to fill my bucket up yet! I’m beginning to get worried! LOL Btw, I’ve norminated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I should have it posted within the hour!
