Ouchies

Last night my daughter in Pueblo fell down the stairs at her house and severely broke her ankle and needs surgery. She had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance and they really doped her up.

The weird thing to me is that, at around the same time she fell, I walked out onto the patio of my house and tripped over something (See, I’m not always trippin’ over nothin’) and spilled on the ground. I landed pretty hard on my elbow and hip and somewhat on my knee. Thankfully, my son-in-law and my wife were able to help me get back up. I was roughed up real good but thankfully nothing was broken. Well, nothing but this:

A terra cotta planter in the shape of a hippopotamus. I landed full force on it.

  1. Ouch for real! That sounds painful.
I always wondered what it was like to turn 18 and become old and I’ve been experiencing it too much lately. Always getting hurt in stupid ways and the soreness and pain lasts forever. I feel super old.

  2. My boss tripped a month or so back and broke her nose. That was pretty dramatic, and probably the only time during the pandemic I was glad there were plenty of people around to help. I tend to be extremely lucky when I fall. Even that time earlier this year, the car incident, I was like an unlucky/lucky cat! That was the best part of THAT experience! Bounced right back up. Still wish it hadn’t happened, but what can you do?

  3. So sorry about your daughter but you can now say proudly. Yup the other day I broke a hippo in half

Look on the bright side and stay well
