A Thank You & Another Curated Meme Roundup For Your Viewing Pleasure

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 22630 – 938

Here’s the haps:

We had a pleasant surprise today. Some nice person dropped off a good-sized order of groceries at our front door. Now lately, the last couple of years at least, we haven’t been as needy as we used to be and we are fixed okay for food. It was a kind and generous thing someone did and we appreciate it. It did contain some things we wouldn’t normally buy for ourselves and it was at least several days’ worth. At first, we called to see if daughter and son-in-law had ordered some because some of the things were stuff they would buy. then we called the church to see if it was intended for Ben and his family but nope. A nice mysterious blessing which we are thankful for.

I try to limit these meme roundups to a baker’s dozen unless they have a specific theme, like the other night. I am tired and it’s late and I have work in the morning. Please enjoy.

  1. One of the most memorable Christmases I had as a kid was when our dad had lost his job. Some mystery elf left presents at our door. I got some Canadian G.I. Joe comics (Action Force; they were literally reprints of G.I. Joe comics) I read and reread many times, and I wish I still had them. It turned out a comic book writer I later considered a genius had written material for Action Force (it included bonus material), and now I’ll always just have to wonder if I had seen any of it.

And anyway, it was a very nice surprise. I was definitely a G.I. Joe kid, and at the time had read and/or had access to very few comics, which made it even more satisfying.

    • Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes, it was very kind and beautiful is probably a good word to describe it. And by doing it anonymously you know it was not done to get a pat on the back, which makes it more beautiful.

  2. The 2th (couldn’t help it, that was hilarious 🙂 ) thing that occured to me (the “1th” was many chuckles 😀 ) was that there’s more truth to the emojis being our modern-day hieroglyphs than we may give it credit for…

  3. My favorite part is that the memes were curated. Now I feel special.

Meanwhile, somewhere near you is a hapless Instacart shopper explaining how anyone could have confused your address for the one where the angry person is still waiting for his order. 🙂

    • Well, you are special, J P. Well, I had thought about the wrong delivery but there was no paperwork or receipt or anything of the kind.
