Award Winning Wednesday – Trev Jones at Silly Old Sod

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 22145 – 717:

When I started writing these award winning Wednesdays what I really wanted to do was recognize blogs that I just really like. The problem that I keep running into is there are so many cool blogs and nice people out there. I made it up as sort of a knee-jerk reaction to all of the awards that float around the blogosphere where you answer a bunch of questions and put a bunch of links out there. Yet I am not really quite as cynical or imaginative as the highly-esteemed world-renowned James Proclaims who created the coveted “Adequate Blogger Award.’ So, I created my own award for when I meet a really cool blog that I am willing to share. This is different from “Herb Thinks I’m special award” only because the blogs I pick for that are one that I like but may not suit everyone’s tastes. They’re good though.

They’re good because I try to pick blogs that I not only follow but are significant in my mind for whatever reason. I know my audience is incredibly diverse as well as extraordinarily intelligent. What? Yes, you. My visitors include teachers, professors, scientists, preachers, Sunday School teachers, brokers, prison guards, auto workers, construction workers, engineers, and a veritable plethora of other vocations that I don’t know and can’t name right now. A fair portion of my readers are real people that I know in person and they are a pretty diverse group. So, keeping my audience in mind I try to share with you blogs and sites that are worth taking the time to visit and read.

One such blog is Silly Old Sod by Trev Jones. He lives across the pond from me but when I read stories about his youth and childhood and when I read about his family and his different stories it seems we have a lot in common sometimes. As you know, my award does not require any back-links or answering a bunch of questions or finding a bunch of other bloggers to tag. He can put it in a post or place it on his blog, link to me if he wants, or do nothing whatsoever with it, but I am offering the “Herb likes this blog and would like to have coffee with this blogger sometime,” award to the interesting, intelligent, often humorous, sometimes whimsical Trev Jones at Silly Old Sod.
