My daughter suffered with Lyme disease for many years. The medical establishment couldn’t and wouldn’t diagnose her as having it. Medical mindsets can be the worst because many of them get a “God” mentality. At one point during her trial she could not knit or crochet because she hurt so bad. While she was sick she determined that she was going to do something besides play Pogo all the time. When she felt good enough she would knit or crochet different critters and tried to sell them at a craft fair. I commissioned her to make this little fellow, whom I dubbed Patrick William O’Mouse or Paddy O’Mouse for short, to honor the Irish/Scots-Irish part of my heritage. He usually sits in this coffee mug which doubles as a change jar but there wasn’t any money in it and you can barely see him. The mug used to be my favorite, gotten at the top of Pike’s Peak, America’s Mountain but the handle broke off. It also has my favorite animal on it.
She has been healed for a while now and crochets all kinds of little animals for her various nieces, nephews, kids she’s cared for and other kids of all ages. I could probably do a week’s worth of blog posts just about her new critters and the kids she’s done them for. She has sold a number of them. We have a group text for the Thiel Tribe and when she completes her latest project, along with several different angle shots, she posts what kind of critter it is, the time she completed the critter, how long it is, and its weight. We have developed a template for a birth certificate if someone wants one to go with it.
I had seen several of this next one fly through the house and this last one was commissioned and never purchased, so I absconded with him. I may still have to wind up paying for him or even enter into a bidding war if the real customer shows up with cash money after all this. This last photo gallery includes the pictures she sent out on the group text plus a couple of mine. He’s so new I haven’t given him a name yet. I’m going to wait and see how his personality turns out. I really think she did great on the eyes and mouth, giving him just enough of a mix between friendly and mischievous. Her group text notation reads:
On 7-10-20 at 10:34pm. 6.5 inches tall with a wingspan of 9 inches and weighing 4 oz. I made him to sell and he was not bought so dad absconded with it.

Flying dragon! Perfect! Larry had a favorite pewter figurine of Pete’s Dragon from a trip to Disney World long ago. His son absconded him and, as far as I know, carries Pete around with him to continue the adventures.

This is my favorite of all the dragons she has made a d I agree with the personality. I forgot a out the tiny mouse. Do you remember the Elephant turned aardvark?
Not offhand but she has done a lot of them over time. You could start a zoo.

She said the materials aren’t that expensive but the dragons took her ten hours of labor. She’d probably haggle.
