Spring Forward!

I was over at Benjamin’s blog, Brother’s Campfire, and was reminded of Daylight Saving Time. I had thought of it a few odd times this week but had definitely forgotten it by tonight, which is when I needed to remember it. Someone in the house said, “Are you sure that’s right?” So, I checked the Google Calendar. Yup! I tried to drag and drop it to a different date but the Google just politely told me, “You can’t reschedule this event.”

For a little bit of history, you can go to https://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/history.html they have a really cool site with all kinds of interesting functions. I had always grown up hearing that Benjamin Franklin invented Daylight Savings Time, but that’s not even close to right.

As a parent, when the kids were still pretty small, I would go around the house and reset the clocks in the afternoon or early evening and we’d have an extra hour to ourselves. It didn’t work after they got to a certain age, though. Really, though, whose bright idea was it to do this on Saturday night at 2am? Why not Friday afternoon, around four-ish?
