A Beautiful Video My Granddaughter Sent Me

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 22198 – 758:

Here’s the haps:

I came home tonight pretty tired out and fairly on the grumpy side. I checked my email and saw I had a couple from my granddaughter. I have several natural grandchildren and several who have adopted me that I treat the same as the others but this one was the first one. I wrote about her in the early days of this blog when she was first born. She was born at around 24 or 25 weeks and entered the world in a very dramatic fashion, weighing in at all of 1 pound 12 ounces.

Anyway, she often sends me jokes or cartoons, especially ones about the subject she and I commonly dread, math. Sometimes she will send a recording of herself singing and playing the piano. Sometimes she sends me something else. I thought this was really beautiful and wanted to share it with you all.

Remember, the Good Book says, “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

  1. Thank you for sharing this, Herb. It is beautiful. It’s the kids that are breaking my heart these days. I think we’re in a true war zone, and I worry that the kids are going to be scarred by the pandemic. I know they’re resilient, for the most part, and will be okay, but this is just so hard on them, and childhood should be the relatively happy time. Life is hard for us all these days. When the pandemic has been “conquered”, I think we’ll be changed and really value the simple pleasures like going to the store and not thinking about contracting the virus. ( I hope I’m not being too much of a “downer”. Hard to believe my blog focusses on “humor”, I’m sure.) LOL

    • Well, it is a strange time we live in. I was talking to my friends’ baby and and realized that many of these kids will be so used to talking to masks it will seem weird to them not to talk to someone in a mask. The plus side to me is that they have to make eye contact and the eyes can say an awful lot.

  2. You know, I have a class of grade 11s and since I didn’t teach grade 10 last year, I actually don’t know what the girls look like to any degree at all. You’re right, it will seem strange to the little ones when they’re not talking to masks.
