Throw It Back Thursday

I am going to start another new weekly feature. Along with Curmudgeonly Monday, I am going to have “Throw It Back Thursday.” Sure, everybody else does “Throwback Thursday,” but I have some ideas for posts that stink so bad that they smell like a fish that needs to be thrown back. Or they are so underdeveloped or unworkable that I just don’t want to keep trying to work them, so I’ll throw them back in like the small fry they are.

Something I was thinking about with this Coronavirus that’s freaking everybody out was a book I read a few years back by Michael Crichton called, “The Andromeda Strain.” I thought that since this virus has existed in this country for years but this is a new strain of it I might really be going somewhere. I kind of have a love/hate thing for Crichton in general but that’s because I almost never like his characters. Yet his books draw you into them because he writes them in such a way that you think they actually happened and you are reading a news story.

Anyway, after I read the page on Crichton’s website about the book and found that every new pandemic has been associated with it, I felt like it was too trite to try to carry too far and the whole thing just kind of lost steam in my brain. That’s another thing you’ll likely see on Throw It Back Thursdays, ideas that I just lost interest in and/or they deflated like a balloon that a little kid blew up and let fly around the room. they kind of bounced around all over.

I did learn some things about the process of writing for a big publisher when I visited his website. http://www.michaelcrichton.com/the-andromeda-strain/

Throw It Back, already!
